Hannah Dorfman is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and performance artist who provides audiences with delightfully eccentric theatrical experiences in coexistence with strong technique and poignant songwriting. Her arrangements have drawn comparisons to Joni Mitchell and Carole King. She has been described by collaborators and fans as a “vocal powerhouse” and “an expert poet and musician whose soulful lyrics and resonant melodies serve as a profound reminder that clarity often comes when we stop seeking so fiercely for the answers.”
Dorfman is co-founder and co-director of Nashville theater collective Amm Skellars, co-writing, co-producing and starring in their hit interactive comedy musicals Rat Race and Silver Platter. Rat Race, Amm Skellars’ inaugural Nashville performance, premiered to a sold-out audience at Third Coast Comedy Club and won Third Coast’s 2022 Show of the Year Award. Their sophomore show, Silver Platter, an electro-pop Baroque farce, was a featured Critics’ Pick in the Nashville Scene and delighted audiences at the 2023 Kindling Arts Festival.
In ensembles and solo performances, Dorfman’s inventive songwriting and electric stage presence leave audiences marveling at unique genre mashups, enlivened by interactivity with onstage actors, mulling over the juxtaposition of the silly and the serious, and certain they’ve had a hell of a good time.
Dorfman also performs regularly with collaborators Bea Troxel, Volunteer Department, and Jacob Milstein.
